​Peer support workers and residents from the Beach Street program recently visited Snell Family Farm in Buxton, Maine for an afternoon of Apple picking! The farm is also known for its raspberry and pears when harvest is in season. ​

Our Inspirational Fiesta in pictures, and a few words... Every year a select committee of staff from across our agency start meeting in the Springtime to plan our Fiesta...and every year it gets better and better! This year we convened in Augusta.

On Tuesday, October 3, thirteen employees of T.D. Bank’s Portland office came to Bayview Heights to lend a hand. They worked from 1-3 without a break doing everything we had set out for them: weeding the outdoor beds and trimming all the vegetation, raking, edging gardens, clipping bushes, and beautifying the attractive grounds around the building, filling up over 15 bags with yard waste.

Kathy was a resident of Sawyer St. long before Volunteers of America bought the house. ​She has lived there for well over 24 years, and is happy to call it "a home, not a house."

Every year, our Brunswick office folks offer themselves up to one of the programs to do landscaping, housecleaning, painting, repairs... you name it. They get much done, and return to the office the next day exhausted and stiff from working so hard, and telling stories of many hours well spent in service.

The Parish House Apartments in Bar Harbor creates 6 one-bedroom units of permanent supportive housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The project is located in a renovated historic building at 27 Kennebec Street in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor, Maine and its many amenities. We are proud to partner with Local Solutions and Community Housing of Maine on this project.

Our Reentry Programs offer offenders who are serving the last months of their sentence a chance to learn interpersonal and employment skills, engage in community service, take personal enrichment classes and work within a transitional model of creating a life post-incarceration.
