Helping America's Most Vulnerable

Thank You, Viles Foundation

Happy Valentine's Day to Margaret Chase Smith House Residents

Thanks to the Viles Foundation, residents of the Margaret Chase Smith House had a Valentine's Day Community Feast: Chicken Cordon Bleu, Rice pilaf, Mixed Vegetables, and Strawberry short cake for dessert.

Eight resident volunteers planned, prepared and served the sumptuous feast to their neighbors. The Community Room was full of hearts and lace and fine china even made its way into service.

Residents decorated the community room and cleaned up after the affair.

After lunch, several residents sat down and wrote thank-you notes to the Viles Foundation. One resident said the lunch was, "More than he could hope for..." They all concurred, adding, "We can't wait until next month's surprise!"

It's thanks to organizations like the Viles Foundation that residents of Volunteers of America's senior houses feel respected and appreciated...a special luncheon once a month can go a long way toward brightening an otherwise cold, grey and snowy winter.

As one resident put it, "These rolling walkers don't have snow tires, so we stay inside more than we'd want."
