Tim & Peanut

Volunteers of America Northern New England is working with local volunteers and animal rescue organizations to help walk and care for pets in our Senior Housing and our Veteran Housing. 

Most recently we found an amazing volunteer to walk and work on training one of our veterans dogs at Cabin in the Woods,  Ms. Peanut.   The veteran has limited mobility and is not been able to walk his dog Peanut (a yellow lab rescue who is about 2 years old and weighing close to 70 lbs).   

Our Volunteer, Sherry, grew up in a military family and has spent many days taking her father to Togus for medical care.   She also works with disabled rescue dogs doing training and transport in the Augusta area.  She is so excited about the opportunity to help both the veteran (and the pet he loves) and has been working with Peanut a couple times per week! The act of kindness and generosity by one special lady has put smiles on everyone's face!
