prayer for the week of August 14
O God, as we begin another week focused on our families, our work and the week ahead, we pause to remember our nation.
With growing intolerance, prejudice and hate gripping our country, O God, call us back to loving our neighbor as ourselves.
When we see acts of social violence expressed through word or deed, give us strength to stand against it as individuals, families and communities.
Remind us again today, O God, that despite the color of our skin, the religion we practice, our nation of origin, our sexual orientation, or gender, we are all one nation: one large family, and we need each other.
Guide our country back to love today. Let it begin with each of us, at home, work, and on our streets.
