Our Ministry of Service
Since 1896, Volunteers of America has answered the call to transform the world through a ministry of service that feeds, clothes and demonstrates to all people that they are beloved children of God.
In addition to being one of the nation's largest and most comprehensive human services organizations, Volunteers of America is an interdenominational church — a church with a distinctive ministry of service. For more than 100 years, Volunteers of America has provided essential services to heal both the body and soul. We provide human service programs and opportunities for individual and community involvement for people of all faiths.
In Northern New England, your ministry team seeks to express God’s love and healing through the regular tasks you would expect from a spiritual leader. Our Ministry Team members have various gifts and skills, and we can serve as good listeners, provide spiritual counsel, and pray with you personally. We also provide a prayer line, Bible and spiritual studies, speakers, and can officiate marriages, blessings, and funerals. Click here to Meet our Ministry staff.
Our heritage is in the Christian faith, which opens our hearts to the needs of everyone, of all faith backgrounds and persuasions. If you have a strong faith, no faith, or are uncertain of what you believe, we are available to bring the support you request at your time of need. Absolute confidentiality is observed with a gentle spirit. Volunteers of America offers people a unique opportunity to put their faith into action. Working together with the help of our committed volunteer board members and volunteers, we can achieve our collective mission and make the world a more compassionate place to live.
