Helping America's Most Vulnerable

Vietnam Veteran Welcome Home Rally held in Saco

Being There for the Vietnam Vets

Ken Darby, Brian Bouthot, and Mike Merrill (L-R) braved chill temperatures while standing outside from 9:00 - 11:00 Sunday morning waving flags and holding signs as representatives of Volunteers of America Northern New England Veteran Services alongside members of the Saco Bay Center for Civic Engagement (Mike Merrill represents Veteran Services as part of that group), and hundreds of community members to welcome home our nation's Vietnam Veterans.

"We're waving flags and signs out on the road to not only remember, but to honor," said Justin Chenette, the President of the Saco Bay Center for Civic Engagement.

Mike, Ken and Brian then convened at the American Legion Post 57 to continue the Welcome Home Rally and to host a Volunteers of America Veteran Services table during the Resource fair part of the event.

The fair also had a showing for the documentary "The Last Landing Zone," which is about the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.

It was a great day thanking and honoring our Vietnam Vets, making new friends and Volunteers of America Veteran Services well represented.
