On December 22, Volunteers of America was honored to have many partners join us for a check presentation from TD Bank and TD Charitable Foundation.

Volunteers of America Northern New England has been awarded $100,000 from TD Charitable Foundation's Housing for Everyone program in support of our Veterans Housing program: Cabin in the Woods.

June Koegel spoke about the importance of this unique program which will provide permanent supportive housing to Veterans (men and women and their children) in a rural, wooded, setting on the grounds of Togus VA Medical Center in Chelsea, Maine. Cabin in the Woods consists of 21 cabins (16 one-bedrrom, 5 two-bedroom) and is scheduled to open in late 2017.

Cabin in the Woods is designed to meet the needs of Veterans who have struggled to return to civilian life and been unable to secure stable housing. Cabin in the Woods will provide these Veterans secure and affordable housing and many other services within close proximity of their homes.

Many partners have worked with Volunteers of America to make Cabin in the Woods a reality. Representatives of two of those organizations were also able to attend this check presentation.

All of those advocates for Veterans are grateful to the TD Charitable Foundation and TD Bank for this vital contribution to assisting Veterans in their journey towards self-sufficiency.
