Our mission of service to men and women living with mental illness.

HandsWeb.jpgThe goal of Volunteers of America Mental Health Services is to foster the principles of normalization, psychosocial rehabilitation and community integration.  Specifically, a team of trained and caring staff members at each residence helps residents learn to cope with the challenges of everyday living by developing daily living skills, maintaining counseling, obtaining education, improving, and learning how to manage symptoms with an individual rehabilitation and treatment plan. We also have apartments for individuals who are transitioning into the community for a variety of reasons, including: mental health, substance abuse or who are just in need of support to live independently.

Mission:
Volunteers of America is committed to the dignity and worth of all persons.  Our Mental Health Services work in collaboration with consumers to ensure their goals for recovery are being met.  We believe it working holistically, realizing that recovery comprises not only a set of skills but an attitude of healing and way of being in the world.  We also use a holistic approach to our clients' health care.  We believe that the client's physical well-being can directly influence their mental health and we address both physical and mental health symptoms.
