Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to live — especially our seniors
Volunteers of America helps seniors find a home, a place where they can feel safe, warm, and secure. Volunteers of America and its 39 affiliates are also one of the nation's largest nonprofit providers of quality, affordable housing for seniors, operating more than 100 senior housing communities, nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Volunteers of America Northern New England is a Leader in Providing Affordable Senior Housing
Volunteers of America Northern New England is committed to providing low-income seniors with a safe and nurturing housing environment. Our focus is on sustaining the value of life with caring people nearby who will help them when they need it. Our partnerships with community leaders and social service agencies offer our seniors an opportunity to maintain an independent lifestyle through various supportive services designed to meet their changing needs as they age in place. After all, there are our parents and grandparents and they deserve no less.
Volunteers of America Northern New England has a very successful partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Our Portland senior housing was awarded the “Best of the Best” award. We are dedicated empowering our residents and bringing together important resources within the communities they live.
We've been there...we'll always be there -- here's proof...

If you have three minutes, we invite you to view a uplifting video that shows how our organization and herbie have grown together over the years. He now lives in our Margaret Chase Smith House in Augusta. It also demonstrates how important it is to be there for our seniors and how having affordable housing can change their lives.
