Community for Homeless Veterans Prepares to Open in Saco
Maine’s first transitional housing community for homeless male and female veterans is gearing up for opening this month in Saco, in southern Maine. “We’ll have an official ‘grand opening’ later in the season,” says program director Betty Fortuin, “but for now we still need to locate a wide variety of furniture, kitchen equipment, and other facility furnishings.”
Zail Berry, MD, MPH, and Dolly Fleming join PACE Vermont
Dr. Zail Berry stepped into the role of full-time medical director and primary care physician at PACE Vermont on August 16. PACE is a healthcare program that helps older adults stay independent in their own homes and communities. It receives administrative and funding support from Volunteers of America Northern New England and On Lok.
Pierce Atwood Volunteers Shine at Bayview Heights
On June 29, attorneys and staff from Pierce Atwood LLP spent a good part of the day rebuilding a retaining wall “the Great Wall of Bayview” at Volunteers of America’s Bayview Heights facility on Munjoy Hill in Portland.
